Well-known english running event is coming to denmark for the first time ever – run to the beat powered by Bang & Olufsen
Bang & Olufsen and the city of Struer will revolutionize the genre of running events with this entirely new race, for the first time ever in Denmark. The race sets off Saturday the 5th of September 2015 at 14.00 / 2 PM on. Run to the Beat is already a well-known and established race in England, where the giant concern IMG is behind it, and for many years the race has attracted almost 15.000 runners.
As the name indicates, the race is founded on and around music – and not without cause. Research shows that music helps to improve a runner’s performance, and with music, you can perform up to 15 % more than usual. It is not only due to the fact that it leads attention away from pain and exhaustion, but the rhythm also backs up the motor coordination, which then affects the mood and releases more energy. For this specific reason, a lineup of DJ’s will set up along the route, and with their pumping rhythms, they will help motivate the many runners to perform optimally. The race climaxes in a concert, held on the lawn at the factory areas of Bang & Olufsen, where some of the greatest musical names in Denmark will turn up to get the party going.
Bang & Olufsen is renowned for their passion for sound all over the world, and it is the central influence of music that makes Run to the Beat a unique concept. Bang & Olufsen has a vision of being relevant to people right where they are – to create the optimal sound experience, whether it is in the living room, or on the running trail. “When we have the chance to get a new exciting running event to Struer, The City of Sound, for the first time it is held in Denmark, it was only natural for us to support Run to the Beat”, says Tue Mantoni, CEO of Bang & Olufsen.
To use the music to create a unique running experience, is a central part of the equation, but it is also amazing to support a race, where the goal is to create the ideal settings for people to be able to perform their best - more than anything, this is a mission Bang & Olufsen can identify themselves with.
2015 is a very special year for Bang & Olufsen, as we can celebrate our 90 years birthday, which is a unique achievement in this business – this is why Run to the Beat and the following party, also are a tribute to, and a celebration of, the exceptional achievement that has signified that Bang & Olufsen still stands today.
The race starts and finishes at the main building “Gården” (the courtyard) of Bang & Olufsen in Struer. The runners are sent on a scenic route through the city of Struer and along the bay. The participants can run either 10 km or a half marathon.
That Struer has been chosen as host city for the race, is no coincidence – as the city is called “The City of Sound”. Struer has proven before that it can manage large sport events, when the city was part of the Giro D’Italia route in 2012. Furthermore, the city has been chosen as starting place for this year’s Post Danmark rundt (An annual bicycle event in Denmark).
With the strategic venture of “The City of Sound”, Struer municipality takes its foundation in the local position of strength within sound, and now, Struer works with sound in all shapes and sizes. “This is why the cooperation of Bang & Olufsen, the entertainment concern IMG, Aarhus 2017, and f.reklame to get Run to the Beat to Denmark, is a natural step for Struer. In addition to the fact that Struer is hosting the only sound race in Denmark, we also offer the many runners an exceptional route, through the beautiful nature of Struer”, says the Mayor of Struer, Mads Jakobsen.
f.reklame is co-organizer of the race. Through the past 40 years, they have arranged large sport events in Denmark, counting everything from tennis, to football, and golf. Now they are proud to get the opportunity to help organize this great race in Struer.
Race numbers can be bought at Billetto.dk from Thursday 5th of February for the price of 350 DKK/apiece. This price includes the afterparty. It is also possible to buy a ticket for the afterparty only, at 150 DKK/apiece. A max. of 5.000 people can participate.
